Bon Parfumeur Eau de Parfum 802: peony / lotus / bamboo
Like wanting to play with your hair still wet from the shower. Or, mind lost in a Baudelaire first edition on a bench in Paris’s Luxembourg Gardens, the world stands still.
Eau de parfum 802 : Peony, lotus, bamboo. A dewy freshness
Like waking up in a Japanese garden. Lotus flower and bamboo combine for a zen and vegetal freshness. Worked around a floral bouquet of freesia-peony-osmanthus, this fragrance reminds us of the smell of morning dew. Very aerial, the musks come to prolong this bubble of softness.
Ingredients
What does peony smell like ?
Symbolising beauty and springtime, in perfumery the peony embodies delicateness. Its floral scent smells deceptively like rose. Its subtle botanical accents evoke morning dew or lily of the valley. Perfumers blend balanced amounts of several ingredients to recreate the smell of a peony as it is too delicate to be extracted.
Not familiar with this technique ?
Let us explain, it’s very simple. The lotus is put under a glass dome. The odour compounds fill the air and are captured by an absorbent stalk, which is then rinsed with a solvent to isolate the “scent”. Next, this mixture of aromas is analysed by a machine, which indicates the amount of each component. The perfumer now has all the information needed to recreate the scent of this lotus. Like all our fragrances, this flower is unisex and it can be found in floral, green and oriental perfumes.
What does bamboo smell like ?
It creates a botanical, woody, aquatic and fresh impression. Bamboo exists as a natural extract, but most of the time it is recreated using several ingredients in what is known as an accord. Perfumers like to use it as a top note to make their creations more open or as a heart note for its subtly floral woody character.
